Palazzo reconsiders historical rug typologies as material for intervention rather than objects of preservation. Calle Henzel subjects classical patterning to cutting, sanding, washing, pigment application, and exposure to external conditions, transforming the rug from decorative support into a sculptural field.

Developed through experimentation with vintage carpets, the works were placed in northern outdoor environments where ice, frost, snow, and cycles of thaw acted directly on the fibers. Combined with paint, abrasion, and incision, these forces disrupted inherited visual systems and generated a vocabulary of fracture and deformation that informed a series of hand-knotted pieces.
